Former Dunnes Stores director, an outsized figure in Irish business for decades, died in Dubai of a heart attack. Ben Dunne, the Irish entrepreneur, former Dunnes Stores director and founder of an established chain of Irish gyms, has died aged 74. The Cork-born entrepreneur, part of the Dunne dynasty, died of a suspected heart attack in Dubai. The Department of Foreign Affairs told the Business Post in a statement on Saturday that it was “aware of the death of an Irish citizen in Dubai”.
