“Met Eireann Storm Debi weather and travel delay update as Cork’s wild winter wind and rain continue”

Storm warning lessened for Cork as Storm Debi continues to rumble across the country. Cork’s overnight Status Orange storm warning has been reduced to a Status Yellow this morning as Storm Debi – the fourth named storm of the winter season – moves away from the southwest. As Cork escaped the worst of the wild windy weather, Co Kerry too has had its warning now reduced to Orange as the storm rolls on – continuing to batter the west of the country. But drivers today are continuing to be warned of dangers due to high winds today with the entire country still on a weather warning. More travel disruptions this morning too with Iarnród Éireann warning of delays to all train services this morning with speed restrictions of 80kph in place across the entire network. And a number of schools are remaining closed until 10 am under advice issued last night by the Department of Education.
