“Major flash flooding hits New York City”

Many parts of New York City, including Brooklyn and lower Manhattan have seen as much as 6 inches (15.2 cm) of rain. The downpour has caused flooding that has shuttered restaurants, businesses and metro stations. New Jersey’s governor has now also declared a state of emergency. Officials have said the city could see as much as 8 inches of rain by tonight, as rain is forecast for the rest of the day
